I find battle scenes interesting to write about and difficult at the same time. Finding a way that communicates to your audience, not only by reading about it, but feeling the desperation, fear and hunger in a scene or perhaps anger or viciousness from your character/s. Then there are sounds and scents, as well as visuals that make a scene come alive. When so much is going on with several characters at once, it can be easy to overlook certain aspects. Read and re-read your scenes and follow the direction of it in your mind, picture it as though you are there, close to the action. Look around your mind and write what you see, then sniff the air. Its amazing what the Olfactory senses can come up with even if it's just in your mind and memory banks.
Off to dream some more battle scenes and write about them in the morning.
Happy Writing.
